Is Badenoch really good stupid? Doesn't she realise that the early Christians were a tiny, persecuted minority under the Roman empire (which had executed the founder of their religion)?

I had hoped this kind of deliberate performative cruelty would end when we got rid of the Tories. I was wrong. Even the Labour Party want to separate children from their parents.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

A government lead by people who opposed the stupidity of Brexit is unable to tell the truth about it or try to remedy it.
🔥 Rachel Reeves says there’s a “hole” in the public finances.

A new decade-long Brexit study quantifies it:

A 6–8% hit to GDP

That's £180bn-£240bn a year

It means less tax revenue and so less money for everything.

Brexit made Britain MUCH poorer.

Nearly ten years on, the first full assessment of Brexit confirms what millions warned: Britain made itself poorer

Praise where praise is due: scrapping the two-child benefit cap is an excellent move. And the most consequential of any of the measures announced today.

This was a botched Budget by a Chancellor who’s diagnosed the disease but won’t administer the cure.

Despite promises to cut the cost of living and grow the economy, the Government still refuses to fix our trade relationship with Europe and repair the £90bn Brexit black hole.

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

A long read, but a thorough analysis which chimes with my observations of right wing evangelicals who refer mostly to the old testament as the gospels are too humane for them.

Mahmood/government should say explain *objective* of increasing time to settlement for 15 years for care workers who arrived 2022-24

Is it

A) to get them to leave? Why?
B) to save money? Then why not just restrict benefits?
C) to "encourage integration"? How? Will do opposite.
15 years for people in medium skilled jobs and care workers too. I believe this goes down to 10 years if they earn over £50,270. Someone in a high skilled job earning over that qualifies in 5 years.
