Maybe Harvard leadership realized that these demands are a moving target. There's no guarantee the federal government will stop the threats regardless of what is conceded. Better to fight back.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Peter Elbow. I was accepted to the UMass Comp/Rhet program in '04 (ended up at UNH), so I spoke with Peter back then, and we checked in a few times over the years in person and through email. He was always gracious and kind. One of the best of us. RIP.
