I think we are seeing quality evidence that people who believe they can manipulate world events in ways to force God to hold the Rapture are not the best choice for making long-term policy decisions that effect everyone.

Saturday I went to a demonstration at the Capital. There were several hundred people there, which is a good size, as it is easy to have conversations with people. And with most people carrying signs, it is easy to find a topic.

Oh, and fornicate Republicans. Not in a happy way.

If someone is against DEI policies, it is possible they are deeply ignorant, and don't think often or well.

It is more likely, though, that they are bad people, vested in white/male superiority.

And it is possible that both are true.

Do you know why they put bar codes on the sides of Swedish warships?

So when they come into port, they can Scandinavian.

Norway you saw that coming.

I'm Finnish now.

It mystifies me that almost no one on the political stage points out that, in the long run, a society actually DOING the things Christ is supposed to have said people should do, such as caring for the sick and the poor and the stranger, is far better economics than "austerity policies", or tax cuts

The Brennan Non-Linear Theory of Zucchini:
If you plant one Zucchini, it will die. If it had lived, it would produce 1 Zucchini per week.
If you plant 2, each will produce 2 Zucchini per week.
And if you plant 3 or more, each will produce 25 Zucchini per week.

There is no evidence of trans women harassing other women in public restrooms.

However, any man who stands outside a woman's restroom demanding "proof" before letting a woman in is committing sexual harassment every time, and sexual assault if he lays a hand on anyone.

An idea I find compelling is that most (almost all?) addiction, whether drugs, alcohol, sex, food, etc., are attempts to self-medicate. Unless the underlying trauma, physical, emotional, mental, is dealt with, relief from the addiction will be hard and temporary.

And that can't be done with drugs.

An author I quite like, Steven Barns, advocates using 'The Three Gates' of speech, which come from a number of philosophical traditions, though sadly, not so much in Western traditions.

Is it true?
Is it necessary (or useful)?
Is it kind?

I think this is worth thinking upon, especially now.

I have read several posts to the effect that the soldiers marching in Cadet Bone Spurs' birthday parade were "phoning it in" and not trying very hard.

I disagree. Speaking as someone who marched in formation A LOT, it is hard to stay that out of step for that long.

It all started with Reagan many years ago. When he deregulated the media, he gave the purveyors of lies, conspiracies, and misinformation the freedom to do and say whatever they wanted.
