I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.

A construction worker on our family farm littered with their lottery ticket today (a $10 losing one). I want to know if the scratch-off is how they begin their site work, entertain themselves during lunch, or conclude the day, if they would have left early to cash in wins, and if they always litter.

I've avoided alcohol, neon colored beverages (could really go for a Baja Blast), and tried to monitor sweet treats. If my hips get any creakier in the next (final) three months of pregnancy, pills will be popped as needed. Pro-acede-acedem-acetaminophen over here.

Trying my best to refrain from over-apologizing to students who send overload requests this week, but each extra human adds significant assessment time (and my brain is 🍤🍤🍤 already)

Also our classroom was easily 85 degrees today, so no more warm bodies allowed. Snowmen only.

The last two students in my classroom today--the final day of Dual Enrollment finals--were willing to offer a few opinions on their first-year composition experiences (they took both ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 with me this school year, which was my first at their particular school):

In three hours, I dropped from 47 essays to review to a whopping 46 essays to review.

My laundry, trash, expense requests, and 'read for fun' goals are complete, though. 🐱‍🐉

Outlook: 8 non-urgent (informational I need to read or resolve after finals)
Moodle: see the ticking of the national debt calculator (www.usdebtclock.org/index.html) and know my digital pile of student work is growing at a slower, but similarly stressful, pace

Happy final two weeks of the semester!

Hogwarts Legacy keeps glitching after I repair Hogsmeade post-troll issues (specifically in the free robes exchange), and Reddit suggested restarting the entire game.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of anything, but I had higher expectations for my Switch. And a full reset seems so dramatic.

Rather than struggle through S25 lesson planning from the comfort of my home, I'm toting my books and laptop to Boston for a few days in hopes the cold and BPL's green lamps make the process a bit more romanticized, with more creative results and less time committed to screens.

I don't enjoy reading 'for fun' books twice, but I've been thinking about _The Life of the Mind_ by Christine Smallwood often. Does anyone have recommendations for contemporary books in the "depressive realism" category?

Goodreads suggested _Dubliners_.
