Second August read and first oof of the year lol - The House at Tyneford by Natasha Solomons was a gift from a relative years ago that I felt compelled to finish, but this was such a drag. The descriptions start out beautiful but quickly become SO slow as 60% of the book is just that.

Just awful

First August read was Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. Some seriously stellar writing that, as someone who once struggled a lot with general and social anxiety, this book was uncomfortable in such a masterful way.

Also loved the Netflix show but the book just was on another level
