One thing that came in fast was having the entire Northeast last night have alone of their earliest freezes on record.

My garden tomatoes plants were butchered and had to save it. Berries were fine as usual.

Fascinating....so the SPC is not going EHN yet on the next 72 hours. That's surprising but I truly think we see the EHN on all 3 days at some point. The environments on all 3 days should warrant it even if some of the days like Fri/Saturday would be for 30% wind or something.

Well well well....look what we got for Albany on Friday with the cold front. That is what I like to see...usually when we have near 90F days like we will, the cold front with the high 60s dew points lead to awesome squall lines. BRING IT ON THURSDAY!!!

Ok...fully awake and Also I need to rapidly get this lawn mowed before this impressive coastal low pushes tons of rain into Albany tonight and tomorrow. Finally good stuff to film in Albany again after a couple weeks. :)

Also we go right into Summer next week.

WAIT WHAT?!?!?! HAIL?!?! This little tiny storm actually pushing hail

That is the most unexpected thing I have seen in Albany in years. Not seen hail in 4 years unless in plains.
May 26, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Crazy last 6 days of outbreaks in the Plains and Midwesr but Honestly I think Saturday eventually gets the all hazards EHN tag by the SPC. This Oklahoma set up is quite sneaky especially after 7pm CDT for tornadoes and hail with how heavy the instability and decent shear in place.
May 22, 2025 at 8:46 AM
One of the strongest dry line tornado events we will see in a while. This has a 2007 Greenburg ceiling
May 18, 2025 at 8:31 PM
These days of Sat and Sunday and Monday are looking incredible if the models are right and the SPC is kind of hinting these to have widespread and significant severe weather on them. These are gonna be high ceiling dry line set ups if shit goes right....especially tornadoes.
May 14, 2025 at 12:24 PM
So I am a tad surprised the SPC didn't push a 15% risk for Mon/Tuesday but we are looking at an INSANELY wild period next many many days. That trough with a lead shortwave and then a bigger one behind it usually leads to incredible dry line/warm sector tornado outbreaks.
May 13, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Let's see what this TX boundary does in a bit....that is where the focus would be for today.
May 6, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Oh and officially my 36th birthday...how about them apples?!

Rain will hold off Albany mostly today so not another rain session looks in line. Tuesday...IDK about chasing in Binghamton with S to N storms. That was hell in my SUNY Oneonta days when weird stuff happens like that.
May 5, 2025 at 9:18 AM
Only woke up for a couple mins and I see in the last 40 mins a solid prefrontal cumulus deck now in place in CT/MA. That's definitely screaming good storm potential this early afternoon and stuff will pop off early.

NWS Albany expecting a fairly big day by our standards. :O
May 3, 2025 at 4:03 PM
And so it begins. The SW cell on the line there in Minnesota is pretty discrete and likely will get tornado warned soon. Environment is soooo good out here and this is only the start. Watching the confluence band in IA...that may be a big thing later.
April 28, 2025 at 6:24 PM
EXTREMELY glad I am not chasing the plains in peak season. Tomorrow is already gonna be a significant tornado outbreak but with thousands of chasers out today in the slight risk and likely all overnight driving to IA/MN and being sleep deprived tomorrow.

Yeah, fuck that shit.
April 27, 2025 at 3:38 PM
That's a giant 15% tornado risk and other hazards too.

Synoptically this is different than March 31, 2023 BUT it has all the hallmarks to be on that level and the high risk I think is becoming more of a thing we will see on the Day 1 outlook. SPC is expecting intense tornadoes.
April 27, 2025 at 6:35 AM
IDK if I can remember a slight risk basically border to border. I think we see a cored up EHN region today but we may see a small tornado outbreak in the plains today with that big of a 5% along with hail.

NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO....you'll see something severe today. Cool.
April 27, 2025 at 6:23 AM
Likely another big rinse and repeat tornado and hail day in Texas. It's another doable tornado outbreak day.
April 25, 2025 at 2:32 PM
IDK why I'm awake 90 mins after going to bed but going back to sleep. Also SPC upgraded to a cored up EHN mainly for hail BUT they did push now a 5% tornado threat. From what I saw on the 12z runs before going to bed...there's some SERIOUS high photogenic storm potential past 5p.

THAT MINECRAFT MOVIE WAS SOLID! I actually highly enjoyed it every step of the way...IDK where the hate for it is coming. Happy video game movies been killing it from the Sonic series to the Mario one.

I mean video games are my thing. 8.5/10 for me. Good first 2025 movie.
April 23, 2025 at 12:22 AM
A day 7 outlook for Monday by the SPC and 100% not surprised and that's a giant discussion out too.

I mean they are clear as day calling all hazards and a very active week next week with the mega trough moving in and setting up camp. Likely will have 3-5 tornado outbreak days.
April 22, 2025 at 8:54 AM
Showers on their way to Albany
April 22, 2025 at 1:01 AM
And away it goes
April 20, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Family Easter thing time....but This tornado outbreak is going to rapidly increase the next 8 hours or so. Great environment in place across the board. The low level jet is perfectly in place and everything is there from MO/AR/L for what you need for strong tornadoes too.
April 20, 2025 at 9:22 PM
Busy rendering but my god the fact we got a nice shelf cloud today in Albany was awesome! I was so happy and a good rust shaker too. We are so early in our season to to get this but everyone knows I will take shelf clouds over tornadoes and this was a good one around Sunset!
April 20, 2025 at 6:49 AM
At my work and been busy,,,,Just a remarkable tornado outbreak tonight. Those 2 cells spawned about 10-13 tornadoes. That one Iowa tornado that was the major one cause significant damage in areas it hit. I am confident that will at least be a EF3.
