Sorry for not googling, can you give me a tl;dr of why would you need to safe the touchID button? I was thinking about buying one of these keyboards…

Also ist dein Argument jetzt das offene Protokolle und Open Source böse ist, weil da kann ja jemand kommen und einen Command Line Client mit keyboard shortcuts bauen?

Was soll signal da machen? Closed source / proprietary entwickeln? Security by obscurity, ist das was du willst?

Facts:

How about a refillable kevlar coffee cup and a survival fanny pack... only way to be safe

I kind of doubt that this was designed in Germany. At least their website mentions nothing like it, and there is no German LincPlus company to be found. It all appears to be a purely Shenzhen-based company. It’s also a shame that the ram is soldered.

I would seriously consider replacing the PSU with one of these USB-C powered boards. Imagine setting this up on a train/plane with a battery bank :D

Great tool! If the nozzle ever clogs up, there are small drills you can buy, e.g. B1303. But any drill with the right diameter for your nozzle will do, the Hakko ones are a bit expensive.

Never though I would see a company from Bad Pyrmont, Germany on your channel :D
It is actually close to where I grew up.

Oh, I forgot the part where you go completely nuts with encrypting your system's disk and you start to think your cat might work for the NSA. But that goes away after some time 😉

Don't get me wrong, I would do it again. I learned a lot from it, including using my mac efficiently.

It's funny, I know so many (including myself) who went down the same rabbit hole: install a Debian-based distro on desktop → tinker → customize everything → break everything → install Arch with i3 → do everything with the keyboard → realize you have to maintain it weekly → get tired → buy a Mac. 😄

I had a failed cap in my Yamaha Stereo AMP in the IR-Remote circuit. I ask on reddit if the if my replacement cap is OK and some guys tried to convince me to recap all, even the giant main filter caps. This would made a 10ct repair to a 100€+ repair. The AMP is still working fine with one new cap.

@jeffgeerling.com my landlord also bought a siemens (It’s identical) you can set up your „favourite program“ once and than disconnect it.
Also bosch was famous for installing 110v relays in 230V markets that would fail due to overheating after ~3yrs. They were always shitty.

@jeffgeerling.com you should edit the issues and put the links in code blocks.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.

I see a potential (over engineered) project here, sniff the mics frequency with a SDR. If OBS is started and nothing is found on the microphone frequency, flash the lights or something 😉

Your blog post was a great read! How do you feel about donations/sponsorships? I’ve considered adding an option to one of my projects but hesitated. I'm scared that, in my mind, the "someone isn't paying you money" argument would become invalid. I want peace of mind, even if I step away for months.
