I love that on the OG gameboy hardware, pea soup was just kinda the color scheme, so you almost get grass colors for free.

One thing that I think helps make games easier and more readable is making the enemy telegraph attacks a little more obvious. More exaggerated animations, maybe a longer delay. Without it, players might feel that hits are cheap. With it, players think, aw damn I really should have dodged that.

I was doing sick moonwalking maneuvers (hitting shift repeatedly) and windows asked me if I wanted to turn on sticky keys. Maybe shift was a poor choice.

It was pretty dead simple getting it on itch. I ran into some minor issues uploading godot games. But I wonder if my familiarity with the process now is making it a little easier.

They mentioned rage and horror games having some advantages for small studios, and I had heard that before. However they both have a similar disadvantage - sometimes more people like watching them than playing them. So you can get a lot of eyeballs, but fewer might convert.
