Personally I think civilisation (ie: pubs and bars) started its inexorable decline when the high bar stool became the standard for pub and bar seating.

Give us proper chairs where your feet can reach the ground and give us upholstered sofas against the wall we can sink into.

I hope somebody will complain to IPSO about this (and the similar Express splash). If so this will be a very useful reference.
Lies, damned lies and the Telegraph. They posted CSJ figures using an outrageously false comparison of 2 cases. It claimed a benefits family were better off by £18k than a working household when the real figure was £16k worse off. The details benefitsinthefuture.com #benefits #budget

It almost goes without saying at this point that these are *exactly* the same canards that were once used to try to deny entrance to the US of Ashkenazi Jews like Miller’s great grandparents.

His argument is “the antisemites were basically right, they just got the specific targeting off a bit.”
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

One of the reasons I like this place is that when someone like Stoppard dies there is a tremendous amount of affectionate tributes.
He was an intellectual who showed that erudition could be playful & enjoyed for its own sake rather than something to be embarrassed by or to hide away.

Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.
Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.
If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

Straight up war crime
Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.
