No spoilers, but y’all need to go see Thunderbolts* ASAP.

This is the best of what superhero storytelling does for us! (IK they’re antiheroes, I guess I just mean comics writing as a genre.)

Walz: You have a situation where the Secretary of Health basically said it and was speaking with the language of eugenics, that some people just don't matter. People like Deanna's son or my son or those of you listening tonight. So look, this is a fight we must win.

the jobs of the future, where you will be a hereditary serf producing goods for your betters
Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."

With Doctor Who, James Bond and the Pope all about to be recast, is there anyone you think would be ideal in all three roles?

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.
Mahmoud Khalil’s Son Arrives After ICE Refuses to Let Him Attend Birth
Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

This Rivian family is very happy with our R1T and (even though my teenagers and I *do* enjoy “boo”ing every Tesla we see driving around town…) this is a great deal!

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Marie Antoinette had “Let them eat cake,” and Donald Trump has “Let them roll eggs.” 😐
Good morning and happy Saturday. Ordering 30,000 real eggs to waste rolling down the lawn of the White House on a Christian holiday, during an egg shortage, after promising to lower the price of eggs, is the peak analogy of this administration. He spits in their faces and they moisturize with it.

Trump's education cuts steal $2,000 from EVERY Kentucky student — and even more from our vulnerable children.

His administration punishes children in poverty, with disabilities, and experiencing homelessness the hardest.

Don't let the KY GOP lead you to believe they care about Kentucky's kids.
As Trump cuts federal funds, here's which Kentucky school districts could be hit hardest
Federal funding makes up anywhere from 2% to 35% of per student spending at school districts across Kentucky.

Taking “constituent services” to the max. Well done, Senator @vanhollen.senate.gov.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

The innocence of Abrego Garcia, Merwil Gutiérrez, and an estimated 90% of the people sent to El Salvador proves this was never about “criminals”.

It’s about racism.

It’s about state terror.

It’s about dehumanization.

Fascism takes hold when people stay silent. It’s up to all of us to speak up.

The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.

Reminder that hiding Jewish people was a crime during the Third Reich.

Corrie Ten Boom, for example, was sent to a concentration camp and tortured because she helped save Jews from the Nazi regime.

When you start putting fascists in power, it’s amazing what becomes “criminal.”
“And then there is the other side that is on the side of the cartel members, on the side of the illegal aliens, on the side of the terrorists. And u have to ask yourself, are they technically aiding & abetting them? Because aiding & abetting criminals & terrorists is a crime...” - Sebastian Gorka 1/

I’m so thankful I broke free from the eternal conscious torment view of hell years ago.

This observation by @josiahhawthorne.bsky.social is spot on. If you’re Christian (or used to be) and wondering how Christians can be okay with what’s happening in the USA right now…
When we've taught everyone that a just God is willing to imprison people in torturous conditions indefinitely just to satisfy his anger...

...perhaps it's no surprise white evangelicals see no problem with indefinite inhumane imprisonment for no crime as long as it happens to others.
