I appear to have spoken to a reporter who took seriously the gravity of NZ's science crisis

does anybody have a newsroom pro subscription so that I can learn what other choice phrases I used on the record?

Emily (Emily Writes) and I drafted a letter to Andrew Little about his decision to appoint Ray Chung as chair of the CCO Review & Appointments subcommittee. We think this is unacceptable given his past behaviour. Here's a template for a letter if you agree:

Really, Andrew Little?
Andrew Little has appointed Ray Chung to head an important Wellington City Council committee. We don't think he should be doing that. If you agree, please tell him so. Here's how.

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this, but I needed to get back to my 'big puter'.

I find this image very helpful in explaining the very problem you are describing.

I have no idea how to attribute this wonderful work though.

It’s quite something to see an expression of culture and characterise it as “political branding”.

‘Bishop told Stuff that he was referring to the “overtly political branding on display.”’

This is *why* retrospective laws are objectionable in principle. Law must be prospective so you can plan your life according to it.

Which is what claimant groups, employers, and public servants have done for years.

All in the bin in under 24 hours. Millions of dollars worth of work on all sides.
My dedicated friend, who works as a mediator, popped in this evening. She's two or three years deep in a pay equity claim with one group. The news that it was all meaningless came through while they were actually meeting today.
