Higher temperatures mean the atmosphere is capable of holding more water vapor. More water vapor means more precipitable water and latent heat in the atmosphere. That means heavier rain, and yes, heavier snow events.

Yes, it was cold at your house yesterday. But somewhere else, there was a record high. Point them to somewhere like coolwx.com/records. There are nearly always more record highs on the globe than record lows.

Climate can be thought of as the entire sample while weather is the individual data points. There can be outliers. There are always outliers. But the truth is in the entire sample. That sample is warming.
