The world sucks right now and there are too many delicious things to distract me from the suckery.
That is all.

NEW EP: SAVED! w/ Sarah Marshall

We're discussing one of the best films of the 2000s, repression, queerness, being filled with Christ's love, cool pastors, teenage pregnancy, and why we all wish we were as cool as Cassandra Edelstein.

I love a wig on the street. It’s like my version of a lucky penny.

What country was Fantasy Island a part of? How did they acquire liability insurance to cover sending guests to medieval times to participate in jousting? What kind of pricing structure did they use? The guests were all middle class for the most part so it couldn’t have been that expensive.

Not an artwork per say but my husband went nuts at an estate sale a few years ago and bought 9 philosopher stones. Most people make due with between zero and one but we have 9 scattered in every nook and cranny. I’m glad to say some of them live in the backyard. They’re stones after all.

This drawing is from Robert Therrien. If you’ve been to the Broad Museum in Los Angeles you probably walked under his giant dining room table and chairs. This hangs over my dresser and I like how Satan gives me a little wave each morning as I’m picking out my socks.

This one is called “Female Protagonist” and is oil pastel on canvas. My friend Amy Adler is the artist. She’s a cinephile and a lot of her work is cinematic in style. This image is a still frame from LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL of Natalie Portman. I’d never seen the film until last year.

I’m not sure who painted this one. I think my husband got it at a fundraiser auction? It is the text from one of those weird flyers that were going around to homeowners after the financial crash of 2008.

Okay, so this one is from André Ethier, a Canadian artist I really like. It’s what I call “difficult art.” The kind of stuff my family gets weirded out by when visiting my house. I had a co-worker over and he just stood in front of it and laughed and laughed.

I love that tucker is “broadcasting” from his Rubbermaid tool shed in his backyard. It would be so much easier for him to work out his mommy issues with a therapist.
