i fare evade opportunistically - when i think i can get away with it/it has a positive expected value. i think that rectifying that would be a good place to start

Good morning! Today, I’m going from NYC to Poughkeepsie by subway + local bus - if all goes well I think I’ll be the first person ever to have done this!

The one relatively low-budget but meaningful change to congestion pricing is for NY to subsidize more overnight NJT bus trips to NYC.

I'm... sympathetic to physical labor-class NJ commuters whose shift in Manhattan ends at 1230a but the last bus home leaves at 1215a. They don't have options now.
I’d estimate that two-thirds of the nurses here (E. 34th) drive, mostly from NJ. They’re all pissed about congestion pricing, and who can blame them? Not only is the money going to paper over waste, but it’s going to paper over *MTA* waste, not NJT or Port Authority waste. All stick, no carrot.

I have a bad feeling about congestion pricing. I don’t think the claims that it’ll become popular after enacted will pan out. This isn’t London or Milan where we’re building cross-city regional rail tunnels with frequent service – people aren’t going to see improved transit, just higher costs.

i'd walk something like this probably. heck there's this bit of I95 near secaucus that i'd wanna walk if they'd let me
In 2022 I was traveling between Marion, IL and Carbondale, IL on a divided 6 lane highway with a posted speed of 60-65 (can’t remember exactly).

On that highway I saw a painted bike lane. Lmao. Who would be suicidal enough to ride on that?

It's going to be interesting to see what Mayor Lurie does on housing, given his independence from entrenched interests. www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/d...
Can Daniel Lurie deliver on his promises to build more S.F. housing?
Daniel Lurie beat long odds in the San Francisco mayor’s race. Building enough housing may be even tougher.
