Important Things That Don't Matter by David Amsden spoke to me in a way that felt like I was reading a memoir I didn't remember writing.
It wouldn't hit me at 41 today the way it hit me at 19, but boy in 2004 it hit hard.

performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!
tell me about a book that changed you
for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.
Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

The convenient store down the street from my house is closing. I've gone there for drinks and snacks since I was 14.
The building was sold to a car dealership and now the owner and I give each other a knowing nod and a "Thanks, brother" every time I'm in there. It's weird and sad.

...Bond has been rebooted roughly 436 times already. The audience never presumed every actor plays the same timeline as another.
People have been used to it with 007 since the '60s, and now we see a new Batman or Spider-Man actor every few years. Please catch up.

James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”
Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:
“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be
One thing people kind of tell you, but not really, about middle age:
One day you'll be like "oh [thing] looks fun but people will think I'm a loser" about a thing
And then you'll say. Wait a second.
Fuck 'em
