Remembering John Lennon,
(9 Oct 1940 – 8 Dec 1980)

the legendary artist who was taken from us way too early by some demon, 45 years ago in New York.

It feels like the world still hasn’t come to terms with this.
Sorry that we failed you 🙏 🕯️

Glimpses of @willdalrymple.bsky.social's super impressive home library of Indian history books and more. Absolute dream! I wonder how he reaches the books at the top...

Day 100/100 of Cool Indian Wildlife History

This is the earliest study of a Siberian crane, painted by Ustad Mansur in the early 17th c. They used to migrate from central Asia to India until 2002 when the last was seen in Bharatpur. Their decline was due to hunting along the migration route.

Absolutely mesmerised by this beautiful painting of Tolkien's Varda - Queen of the Valar and Lady of the Stars! ✨

Incredible how Tolkien's creations have inspired so many talented artists!

The rose, the mirror, the moon.

We took a contract unlike any other. We danced with Shani, we fought against Olgierd, and we faced the Caretaker. Ten years ago, we crossed paths once more with Gaunter O'Dimm.

Thank you for keeping the stories from Hearts of Stone alive 🌹

This week I’m taking a break from all the Polish literature and reading this 📚

The legendary Jack Kerouac, hero of the Beat Generation and inspiration of the Hippies. Author that’s been on my mind for quite some time.

‘On The Road’, ‘The Dharma Bums’ and ‘Lonesome Traveller’. #booksky #books

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

Apparently there are people who think this film is too boring or too long…

What the hell do you mean, this is one of the greatest films ever made!! It’s perfect in every way

I had a lovely wholesome interaction there at the top. I was sitting under this map resting and a guy asked me to take a photo of him next to this map. He said he had walked this whole red trail, 500km, in 20 days. And he had the last 4km to Ustroń where I had hiked from. I was amazed! #LodaTravels

Went on a short mountain trip in the Polish Beskidy this Sunday, near the town Ustroń.

It was a short climb but my muscles still hurt now. I definitely need to do this more often and train my body. Somehow I've survived. 9 km total. Had nice time. #LodaTravels

Sam Dalrymple’s debut ‘Shattered Lands’ is my favourite book of the year! 💚

Years of his research and travels went into this compendium of modern South Asian history. It shines light on many not well known facts and offers many interesting fun anecdotes. #booksky #books #history

Chilly Sunday, with rainy moody clouds, finally a bit colder here.

Perfect day for cozy watching films and doing literally nothing else the entire day. I've got hundreds of classic films to go through! Don't even know where to start!

For today: Godfather, Yojimbo, Sergio Leone

The dancing figure of the god is not just a model of virile bodily perfection, but also an emblem of higher truths: on one level Shiva dances in triumph at his defeat of the demons of ignorance and darkness, and for the pleasure of his consort.

The Nataraja, Shiva as Lord of the Dance, is arguably the greatest artistic creation of the Chola dynasty. It is the perfect symbol of the way Chola sculptors managed to imbue their creations with both a raw sensual power & a profound theological complexity.
