If ChatGPT wrote this part of the pro-AI case, which is weak and borderline bad-faith, it supports the Guest-van Roiij critique quite well. I don't recall anyone arguing that these prior tech developments were likely to be problematic in any way, and surely not with any parallel to AI criticism.

I arrive 20 min b4 class to play music from my personal collection; class begins when I stop music & tell class about it. Each semester I constrain choices to a theme. This semester I'm playing 20th century albums by women(+), 1970-99. Always brutal narrowing it down w/diversity in genres/artists.

It's Bandcamp Friday today! If you ever purchase physical or digital media, please consider doing so today to optimally support your favorite artists. I'm about to head over there right now. :)

Waiting on Rosali to open, and then MJ Lenderman. Happy place.

FWIW, here's how I contextualized those 2 Meehl articles within a section on theory within my last grad methods class.

Two new Americana albums I’ve been enjoying:
Ma’aM, “Out The Window”
Grace Rogers, “Mad Dogs”
(Bandcamp links in reply)

There are very few beers that I don’t enjoy, and New Belgium is a favorite brewery, but this is a fucking abomination.

Can you put the on the study's OSF page and link to it the URL in the abstract, so it's easy to find? We did that here: psycnet.apa.org/record/2019-...

Yes, but "may be" and "might be" are doing a lot of heavy lifting in this concluding paragraph. Should universality be assumed or tested? For what theories does it matter?

I am regularly "Strooped" in daily life by these open/close elevator buttons. The buttons to open the door have pointing-out arrows close to center, implying close, and the buttons to close have the pointing-in arrows further away, implying open. [Post deleted then reposted to fix typo]

Yes, but I think it's most concerning that literally only *1* of the 218 included studies could be classified as having low risk of bias (according to Cochrane criteria).

This isn't a very responsible summary, in my opinion. Please see the authors' limitations text in screenshot below. There were only 5 dance studies with total N=107, indicating only about 21 subjects/study (divided into at least 2 groups per study); also high chance of bias in included studies.

Cripes. From the Prolific subreddit. I guess it's a good thing that Prolific is re-verifying participants.

Oh, crap. TIL that there is a market for people to sell their Prolific accounts, almost certainly to people who'd been banned or who live in ineligible places (who then, of course, don't match the initial participant profiles).
