Bushcraft Survival on mobile? Maybe! I'm learning about some super cool Godot features enabling desktop and mobile builds to coexist on one code branch.

For the Godot devs: there's a plugin called Resource Remaps (godotengine.org/asset-librar...) allowing you to remap autoloads for your platforms.

This asset is meant to be a fairly low-poly game-ready asset. It will only be seen up close at certain angles.

Managed the whole thing with 3 sets of 2K textures (ORM), and 3580 triangles.

Tonight: some UV mapping for the folding saw in Bushcraft Survival. Next up I will be baking some high poly details onto it!

In blender, the knife on the right looks rounded and rubbery looking. This is because the normal map is just a flat color on the metal surface.

The traditional way to fix this would be to bake in the curvature detail from a high poly (which I didn't have). Marking sharp was easier!

⚡3D GAMEDEV TIP⚡
Marking edges "Sharp" can make a huge difference in some cases. For this knife, I was having way too much trouble with the baked normal map. So rather than fiddle with it endlessly, I marked a few edges sharp and it looks pretty good!

WOOHOO! I think I'm done with my infinite, procedural forest + terrain system for now. It's stable with draw calls, primitives, and CPU/GPU memory. Art is placeholder.

Finally fixed!! Turns out I was missing a bunch of RenderingServer.free_rid() calls. Gotta make sure you keep track of those instances!
