Putting Detroit homes back in the hands of Detroiters.

For too long, out-of-town speculators have bought up homes for cheap, ignored taxes, and mistreated tenants. Those days are coming to an end.

Ten years ago, homes in the Marygrove and Fitzgerald neighborhoods were abandoned and selling for under $10,000. But together with residents, we reimagined what was possible.

Detroit's financial future is strong.
Built on years of smart planning and fiscal responsibility. Income and property tax revenues have doubled in five years, strengthening every
neighborhood's foundation for the long term. Detroit is built to endure and poised to continue progress.

Detroiters are changing their futures through the Occupied Buy Back Program. 88 participants graduated in 2024. More than 1,300 families have received their deeds since 2016.

Kresge didn't just invest in Detroit, they stayed. By choosing Marygrove over a downtown tower, they showed what real belief in Detroiters looks like: building with the people who never left.

Detroiters who stayed and invested in their neighborhoods are seeing it pay off. Property values are rising, homes are being restored, and Detroiters are building generational wealth. Mr. Johnson's $40,000 investment is now worth $100,000, proof that Detroit is leveling up together.

Detroit's blight removal mission is almost complete. 47,000+ vacant houses down to fewer than 1,000 left. 50,000 lots now ready for Detroiters to build, grow, and create what's next.

Ms. Kim calls it "a whole new world" and I couldn't agree more.

With more than 8,000 homes demolished under Proposal N, Detroit neighborhoods are safer, stronger, and full of opportunity. Together, we're turning every block into a place to thrive.

The Cooley neighborhood was written off by many when the high school closed. But now, families are moving back in, houses are being restored, and what was once decline is turning into hope.

We're investing in what works.
Trusted CVI groups are in our neighborhoods, standing with residents to prevent violence and save lives. Because of this work, Detroit is seeing another 15% drop in homicides in 2025. We're building safer, stronger neighborhoods together.💙

I took a walk along the Whittier Corridor with residents to look at all of the progress we have seen. 600 broken fences, repaired. 500 vacant signs, removed. Corridors within the neighborhoods are now being reborn to drive further progress for our city in our neighborhoods.

Detroit is keeping its promises.

In 2024, we began making pension payments to our retirees and we are meeting those obligations without difficulty. That’s a milestone many thought this city would never reach again.

Across our neighborhoods, long-abandoned sites are finally giving way to new opportunities.
