3) Its performance based. If Tesla stock doesnt go up a bunch (presumably due to an increase or an anticipated increase in sales), he doesnt get the full amount. Ie he doesnt get the full $ if sales stay the same & are anticipated to stay the same.

So ok... couple of things here:

1.) I think that 1 trillion is over several years. Not 1

2.) Its being paid mostly in stock, which is what people think Tesla will be worth eventually. Say sales r down this year but expected to skyrocket next year. That could justify a high valuation
