i’d be more comfortable with the olivia nuzzi coverage if every story was headlined something like “seduced by a guy who eats roadkill: the story of an extremely stupid lady”

I know we have extraordinarily larger fish to fry, but this Hampton Inn has motion smoothing on the in-room TV but has disabled the controls to turn it off. 😬😬

Getting to see master musicians / posters @themountaingoats.bsky.social and @brianrosenworcel.bsky.social on a gorgeous Portland night: 💯

I need a think piece on the grunge-era slouchy hat and sleazy vibes of the youth pastor on Hunting Wives.

Even the stormtroopers are gay in Maine!

Was ghosted by the guy I was supposed to go out with tonight. Instead saw a friend’s Dead cover band and ended up going real deep real fast with a couple in their 70s—together for 3 years after their spouses had died. It was a goddamn delight and we all hugged at the end. More, please.
i'm a pretty socially awkward person but i've never been comfortable with the like performative militantly antisocial stance people take online, and i think it might have something to do with why people feel like shit all the time
when youre outside people may try to talk to you

Act Up founders, healthcare providers, longtime activists — the speakers at today’s rally, march and die-in at the NYC #teslatakedown were fierce and angry and above all resolute. I’ll be bringing some of that energy back to Maine this week.

The crowd in NYC at #teslatakedown got positively gleeful earlier today when this chant started up. And that whistle guy is on point!

In These Times, it is very disconcerting to be visiting my daughter at school — the so-unfortunately-named El*n University — and yelling GO EL*N at a women’s tennis match.

Hearing the sitting president directly threaten your (imperfect) governor and in fact your whole state is chilling AF
TRUMP: The NCAA has complied immediately. That's good. But I understand Maine -- is the governor of Maine here?

JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here

TRUMP: Are you not gonna comply?

JM: I'm going to comply with state and federal law

T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

NAACP lists companies that dump DEI in its tactical spending guide for Black Americans
The NAACP wants Black Americans to take their purchasing power, which some studies value at over a trillion dollars, to businesses that align with the civil rights group's values.

The only bad part about the Chiefs getting absolutely hammered is the fact that Brady now gets to just yammer-shout unimpeded for the rest of the game.

The way I held my breath to see if Han Solo was heading toward a car ad or an upsetting political statement… Phew!

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

That was awesome, and also I’m gonna need the middle-aged white lady’s guide to 1,000 references that I missed.

“Opened the throttle on blowing through”? Please see me after class.

Also, “for how their actions” - the antecedent for “their” is…limits? Trump?

“He is breaking the law. Here are some examples.”

This newspaper sucks.
President Trump has opened the throttle on blowing through apparent legal limits, often with no clear public explanation for how their actions could be consistent with the rule of law. Here are some examples of the administration’s defiance of statutes. nyti.ms/4aKnKRP

Gen X white men: just bc you’re freaked out about the state of the world doesn’t mean it’s time to reach out to every woman you dated in the last few years, inarticulately seeking companionship. I’ve heard from 3 of these dodos in 3 days and I’m too busy organizing to hold their stupid hands.

I cannot get over the rollercoaster that this Oklahoma / LSU game has been. You’ve got fast breaks, high score, technicals, ejections, Kim Mulkey’s histrionics… what a game.

If going to a community organizing meeting and then collapsing on the couch to watch Below Deck is wrong… I don’t have what it takes to be right.

The friend I’m visiting Friday mentioned that we will stop in at a couple parties. I started to stress about wtf to wear… and then remembered I am going to Vermont, perhaps the only place more casual than Maine.

Whew, Lauren Betts was a beast [complimentary] vs Baylor this afternoon. Wish I had tuned in for more of the game — turned it on at the end of 3rd Q because I assumed it would be a blowout. Baylor hung in there, but Betts was unstoppable.

Dream come true: Wilco/Waxahatchee in Asheville NC coincides with my kiddo’s move out of her college dorm a few hours away. So I can fly down, stay with beloved pals, see beloved bands, help beloved kid pack up and drive home for the summer.
