Does anyone have any good alternatives to FB and IG?

I am figuring out my personal response on whether to delete my Meta accounts now. Much of my advocacy work and ability to community organize has been through those platforms. But the monopoly needs to end. 7/

Social networks like, X, IG and FB operated by tech billionaires provide the perfect platforms for mass disinformation and strategic dehumanization of targeted groups because of their monopolies over the social media space. 6/

This is what the oligarchs and those with entrenched political power want—for us to never see the real men behind the curtain—because the only way they stay in power is if the people don’t unite against them. 5/

Attempts to dehumanize a group is always to pit people against one another. If we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves and blaming the “wicked, evil, inhuman one” for social injustice, we will never look UP to see those really pulling the strings. 4/

In the words of the Wizard of Oz, “The best way to bring folks together, is to give them a really good enemy.” (Wicked) We have been watching this process happen in real time. 3/

Remember that Knowles called for the eradication of “transgenderism” at the 2023 CPAC. Those of us who know our history are very alert right now because dehumanizing language and calls for our eradication only embolden hate crimes and violence. 2/

The oligarchs may believe they can control it but they cannot and I believe society in the US is reaching a fundamental breaking point where the social contract is being shredded in the name of endless wealth and power. Eventually, there will be a violent reaction and it's something no one wants.

I played GW2 for years at its launch! I’ve moved on to other games since then for various reasons but one thing I will always love about the game is the community!

Thank you for saying this! I was never a man, although I cosplayed as one for many years to survive. Transition for me was about embracing myself and no longer hiding.

Seems really clear that the conservative majority is drawing up a broad decision that would say it's not sex based classification and that trans people do not meet quasi suspect class status. I can't tell you just how bad it would be. It would fully greenlight draconian laws.
