Seriously, read a book. At least take a look at the rebuttals. A good place to start are Angela Saini's books. She was harassed off Twitter MANY years ago, which tells us plenty about who's being silenced in the public square and it isn't the racists or misogynists.

You're evidently not interested in researching the field you're critiquing, which is exactly how Watson behaved. And tells me and everyone else reading this thread that your attitude is likely the same as his. 🥱

Tbh this critique could also apply to me on this account. I pretty much only use blue sky for political bickering and wittering on the occasional post about books. The days of doing everything on one social media account are long gone for me.

Unfortunately it comes across as projection, ie, Gilligan imagines that if he wrote romantasy he would be ashamed of it, only doing it for the money and slightly contemptuous of the readers.
I wish this wasn't my reaction, but it feels SO untrue to authors of genre books. 3/3
Thoughts?

If this was an irrelevant detail it probably could be overlooked but it looks like a cornerstone of her character as the lone curmudgeon who resists the happiness virus.
I know a lot of novelists because I am one. Never EVER met one who looks down on their own genre or work. 2/3

There's a bunch of research that refutes that, which is why the view holds the same position amongst scientists as vaccine denialism.

Yep. When 'everyone' pays for your healthcare some people, often extremely uninformed, think they have the right to weigh in to make sure their bigotry translates into neglectful provision.

Yes indeed that's unfortunately the problem with the NHS. And it's currently being used with surgical precision to bash trans people but also people with ADHD, Being Old and that's not a comprehensive list.

Yep. Particularly since authentic Paul isn't quite as tradcath as Deutero-Paul. If all we had were the Pastorals and Ephesians they'd be pretty content, I suspect.

It's already sliding into place thanks to Corby v Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), which determined that opposition to CRT is a protected belief under EA2010.

Maybe, but in this case religion is irrelevant. All the persecuted could become Protestants and they'd still be locked up, brutalised and deported. The GOP voters will happily target any group that Trump identifies as an enemy. Remember 'Hang Mike Pence'?

I get that it's unnecessary but tbh from British pov so is Obamacare. Just make healthcare free for all citizens and legal residents!
November 9, 2025 at 9:15 AM
I'm British, so I don't quite understand how Obamacare works. Why would this be wrong? Wouldn't it be like SNAP for healthcare? If the funds could ONLY be redeemed against healthcare insurance, wouldn't that work?
Is it because it'd open up a market for a cheap, perhaps TOO basic service?

Now, combine that with Paul's claim in 2nd Corinthians that our resurrection bodies have been prepared already and you get an interesting thought experiment that I like to use when Christians claim there's no such thing as gender.
"What sex do you want your Resurrection body to be," I ask.
🤔😆

That particular quotation gave the Church Fathers plenty to worry about. It implied that there would be no gender in heaven. But that would mean men would lose their hierarchical position, which would not be ideal therefore Tertullian (I think?) argued that in fact we will retain gendered bodies.

Ah, I see you're not familiar with the popular apologetic "That's maybe what Paul wrote but it isn't what he meant"
