Breaking: Co-May (#Emong) now a typhoon - JTWC.

The current intensity based on 1 minute has surpass the threshold of 65 knots and now Co-May holds a maximum sustained winds of 70 knots (80 mph) or 130 km/h. The center was last spotted 245 km W of Bacnotan, La Union as 8 am from the DOST-PAGASA.

The tropical depression formed near the Babuyan Islands is now a tropical storm with an international name of "Co-May." The storm was previously given a domestic name, "Emong," by the DOST-PAGASA as soon as it developed earlier today.

The JMA upgraded the unnamed tropical depression far east of extreme northern Luzon into a tropical storm, Francisco, at 00:00 UTC. This is the fourth named storm of the 2025 season in the NW Pacific, and it's forecast to head over the Yaeyama Islands.

The low-pressure area located over the Philippine Sea east of Luzon has formed into a tropical depression, 10W, according to the JTWC. The forecast indicates that the system will move W-NW towards the southern Japanese islands before moving towards mainland China.

Tropical storm "Wipha" is passing just north of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, over the sea of the Luzon Strait. The storm has slightly intensified and is now holding maximum sustained winds of 45 kts (85 km/h).

The tropical depression over the Philippine Sea east of Luzon, which is locally known as TD "Crising," is now a tropical storm according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, or JMA. The storm has acquired an international name, "Wipha," which means "splendor" or "luster" in the Thai language.

#Danas has strengthened to become a typhoon off the coast of Taiwan. JTWC currently assesses the system as a category 1 with winds of 65 kts based on 1 min. average wind speeds.

JMA has upgraded the tropical depression previously named locally as "Bising" by PAGASA to a tropical storm and given it an international name, "Danas."

It's not going to threaten the Philippines but will enhance the monsoon rains.

DOST-PAGASA said that the chances of the low-pressure area located east of Luzon becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours are now "HIGH."

If it becomes a cyclone, it will be called "Bising" locally in the Philippines.

A low-pressure area continues to persist east of Luzon. According to DOST-PAGASA, the weather disturbance now has a medium chance of development within the next 24 to 48 hours while still remaining over the Philippine Sea.

The japanese meteorological agency (JMA) has issued their final warning bulletin on former tropical storm #Sepat as of 18:00 UTC.

'sepat' is the second named storm of the season after typhoon #Wutip which slammed southern China.

The presence of the enhanced southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms in some parts of the country is bringing moderate to heavy rains. In addition, a low-pressure area has formed in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and is currently being monitored for development.

The Japanese meteorological agency now classifies the low-pressure area east of northern Luzon as a non-warning tropical depression as of 03:00 UTC (Thu) 12 Jun 2025. Currently, the agency has not yet issued an official forecast track for the weather system.

And yet another disturbance has formed over the Philippine sea east of northern luzon in the Philippines. the current outlook from DOST-PAGASA shows that this weather disturbance is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hrs for now.

We now have our first named storm from the Japanese meteorological agency (JMA) in the northwestern pacific basin, and its name is #Wutip!

TS #Wutip is forecast to track WNW and may make landfall over Hainan province, China as a severe tropical storm (STS) at peak.

DOST-PHIVOLCS issues two simultaneous advisories on Kanlaon & Bulusan volcanoes today, 12 May 2025. According to the agency, both volcanoes showed increased seismicity, a vital precursor for an explosive erupion.
