I definitely got my adhd from my mother. I took some time to do a few things for my lab while she’s visiting, this then became a race to finish and get off my laptop while she insisted on cleaning every little thing. Now time to go take my high-energy mother and dog on a walk 😅

I regularly think back to a time in class during my master’s program where I didn’t speak up. It’s been 2 years. I’m never making that mistake again.

You’re going to see some news articles saying THOUSANDS of feds are resigning. Um. Ya. We do data. We know what 1% of 3 million looks like. And it's a damn sight smaller than 10%. Keep it up people! As Trump installs his amoral henchmen the American people need us more than ever. Hold the line.

If your research could be affected by such policies, you can use OSF or similar services to post a preprint with a CC-BY license to ensure it is accessible to everyone:

osf.io/preprints

OSF is open source, free-to-use, and maintained by @cos.io a 501(c)3 charity.

Downloaded CDC Data And Where To Find It
Journalists and scientists are downloading a bunch of public health data they suspect might be at risk of deletion. Instead of all of us privately reinventing the wheel over and over, what if we share...

Hey if anyone is considering backing up any datasets for some reason today, the Open Science Framework has free storage up to 5G/private repository, and up to 50G/public repository.

(The OSF is run by a 501c3 (Center for Open Science), so if you do this you might also consider making a donation.)

Given the state of...everything; I wanted to bring attention again to Graham's hierarchy of disagreement. So, while you are having your online debates it's important now more than ever to pick and choose your battles and decide what conversations are worth engaging in. So let's go through them (1/8)

Saw this advice online somewhere else (can’t remember) but if you want to help: Don’t try to fight back on every single thing. Pick one or two things most important to you and focus on those. If you try to worry about everything this man will do you will burn yourself out.

Raking dead grass layers improves biodiversity, reduces invasive grasses, and supports wildflowers. It’s an eco-friendly, low-cost method.

It is coming - and we are not ready. We could never have enough time to prepare. Because there can never be enough time to battle time itself. Relentless. Bending us along its trajectory without relief. Will we break? We cannot. We must not. For if we break, who will roast these jams?
