Hello chums! I am still alive, but not on FB/IG anymore and am trying to spend less time gazing at my phone.
I’ve been reading books instead, and trying my hand at watercolours and linocuts. Here’s K2SO in all his inky glory, from an original Inktober portrait by the magnificent Philip Bond

I’ve been a bit nostalgic for Leeds in recent weeks, so came up for a visit. Lots of new modern bits, but some of my old haunts are unchanged. Added bonus: barfi from Asian sweet shops costs about a third what they charge in that there London!

Picked up both these books on recommendations from @robinince.bsky.social - they are both phenomenally well-written and an important read (‘One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This’ by Omar El Akkad, and ‘Ghost Signs’ by @stuhennigan.bsky.social).

A minor teenage tantrum:

Today I watched these gannets diving off Godrevy headland for about an hour.
Where there are gannets, there are fish, which meant I also spotted some dolphins 🙂

This little monkey didn’t want his temperature taking today, chewed chunks out of his mat, then did a big poo in his paddling pool once he’d eaten all the fish. A star pupil, 8/10

Cornwall has been pretty stormy these past few days - which means needing to uplift a few extra seal pups for care. This little one came in yesterday, with lungworm and wounds on all flippers, but with a bleeding muzzle that looked like she’d been bashed around a bit in the waves 🫤

I earned some epaulettes, but man, the things you learn on the way! I will probably soon find out which bodily fluid I least like to be covered in.
Must work on my black humour, there’s a lot of it about in paramedicine (and emergency services in general)

Applied some TLC to this guy today: ‘Woodlouse’ was picked up from Sennen yesterday, exhausted and a bit underweight. Unusually, he has alopecia, so looks like a well-loved teddybear. Now on his way to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary 🙂

Sometimes I come for a swim but wuss out if I’m not feeling it. Like today! I love swimming in sunshine, however cold it is, but it’s less fun with no sun.
Never mind, I had a croissant instead. A different sort of joy.

New volunteering adventures as a first responder. I’m still in training, and have to pass some exams before I can start doing it, but am thoroughly enjoying learning how to do something genuinely very useful to people.

After the rain comes sun. Thursday is pony checking day - all boys doing fine.

Since there’s no mention of Easter anywhere here, we’re free to eat it anytime. Will report back when it gets bust open.

I’m reclaiming my time (and attention span), but also trying to get stronger. Pleased to be at this point after a couple of months of regular gym visits. However, dropping a 1.25kg plate on my foot from shoulder height was a slight low point today.
