Of all the writeups I've read on horses, this one feels like it's engaging with the combination of Text and Moment the most specifically, the most thoroughly. Really good read.

A Majungasaurus pair at midday.

Majungasaurus crenatissimus was an abelisaurid theropod from Madagascar that lived at the verge of the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction.

It is one of the best studied abelisaurids, an apex predator of its ecosystem in the Mahajanga Province's Maevarano Formation.

And with the addition of the (super fragmentary, big surprise) Nicorhynchus, we are done with the Kem Kem pterosaurs! While there are potentially more genera here, they are so scrappy and taxonomically messy, that I'm happy with my final selection.

From all the paleoart and media depictions, one would think Nanotyrannus’s only interaction with the rest of the ecosystem was to harass juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex. Ecologically specialized to be a schoolyard bully

If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.

For those who, like me, love speculative and alien evolution, there's a remarkable new book out, "Wildlife on the Planet Furaha" by Gert van Dijk. www.crowood.com/book/wildlif...

the HORSES affair is a startlingly low bar to cross to see if people actually care about protecting games from censorship of upsetting themes because it's far tamer and has way more moral clarity than a lot of stuff that doesn't get banned. but it's also very clarifying to see who can't cross it

Another one of those scary wet things (fish artists, I don't know how you do it) from the Kem Kem waterways - Aidachar. While not very well known, it is part of the same order as the much more famous Xiphactinus.
