The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Democrats get labeled as obsessed with trans people yet Republicans spent their time during the shutdown doing this.

41 minutes of watching two shipwrecked men trying to flip a boat and signaling for surrender/help before firing on them again reminds me of the 9.5 minutes Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck, in that it’s an agonizingly long time to be killing helpless people who clearly posed no threat.

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

As awful as this, the focus on whether the woman was complying obscures the more important issue: in a democracy, there should not be armed agents demanding to see papers of every passing person.
“Traumatized, humiliated, degraded.”

The nurse, a US citizen, 4’11”, 85 lbs, says she was following orders when she was dragged out of her car by masked immigration agents in Florida.

It was the 3rd time she had been stopped and told to produce ID.

No matter how hard people try to convince us having empathy is wrong,

No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness,

No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited,

it is unlimited.

I’ve said this before but white guilt is useless. I don’t want people to feel guilty for things they had no part in, and guilt easily curdles into resentment. But everyone regardless should feel an obligation to correct injustice, especially if you somehow benefit. bsky.app/profile/mich...
I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

Not “had sex.”

Let's help Clay out here with some math.

The $4200/yr. is for a household. Average SNAP household has 1.9 people. So that's $2210/person.

$2210/year is $184/month, and that's a little over $6. per day.

Clay, let's see you stockpile groceries on $6/day.

Hell, let's see you eat on $6/day.

Congress can help reign in ICE- IF we get a Democratic majority. That will be more likely if California passes Proposition 50. #YesOnProp50
