Yes, some people's legacies are complicated. For example, Watson. After all, though he was racist, don't forget his other traits. For example, he was also sexist. And also anti-semitic. And a data / idea thief. So let's not forget all the different facets.

hi, cis folks!

the GOP put the all-ages trans medicaid ban back in the budget, despite it being struck. they did it to force dems to challenge it on the floor.

if you've been paying attention, you know dems need to hear you want them to actually stand up to the GOP. contact info at reps.fyi 🧵

last year i started experiencing extreme fatigue, pain, and bleeding

i had to go to my uni's Women's Health Center (officially called something else, but staff repeatedly referred to it as such). my provider was very affirming, but i needed an ultrasound. the tech repeatedly misgendered me.
its very common.

medical care is unsafe for trans people to access, and it kills us every day.

self reported data from 2022 reported that 24% of trans adults in the US avoided necessary medical care in the last year due to fear of discrimination

1. Today, the Trump administration's HHS Dept., under RFK Jr., released a review of transgender healthcare.

It has no authors. It pushes pseudoscience and conversion therapy. It does not follow a scientific process.

The review, which was made possible by an executive order calling transgender healthcare "mutilation," reached its predetermined conclusion on its May 1st publication date.

Every scientist, long before they were a scientist, was a little kid who stood in front of a fish tank or stared up at the stars or turned over a rock to look at the bugs underneath and said “wow”. On the best days, working in science still feels like that.

this has been published for over a week. somehow we are all just finding out about this. when an entire administration begins to target a marginalized community to erasure at a voluptuous degree, stories like this go under the radar.

SHAME on mainstream media for not making this story known.
“My death as a member of the third gender and transgender population does not mean you won.

It solely marks the end of our association.

You are not the land of the free.”

this is the thing not to lose sight of.

yes, the biology of sex is complex and fascinating, with nearly endless diversity.

but also we don't use biology to decide who gets human rights. like, historically speaking that has not led to good places!
Yes, but... Remember that they don't care about truth, or science, or biology. Science alone won't win political battles. Being right doesn't mean we get to control the narrative. I recommend that scientists say things like "You're wrong about the biology, but also trans rights are human rights."
