Yay monarchs & milkweed!! I used to empty & peel the seed pods to make them into L. Frank Baum Nome King finger puppets. We had to make our own fun when we spent part of our summers at my stepmother’s family farm. Luckily my aunt had the complete Oz books, Doctor Who on VHS, & Buster Keaton on reel.
The Nome King created by L. Frank Baum, original author of the Oz books. He has a long pointy olive green head with two thin curling furry antennae and a very large, long, fluffy white beard that mostly covers his arms. He is holding his hands to the side of his face and his mouth and eyes are wide open in an expression of alarm.

Also. I hadn’t used it in forever but had held onto 16 years of history that had been very important to me at a time when the communities were so important to me as a newly sick and disabled single mom. I cannot be counted even passively among his supporters though.

Went to the 12th anniversary show of Boston’s longest running monthly #burlesque night, Punk Rockin’ Pastie Poppin’. Was grateful to see art and friends, and get hugs after a hard day. Here are a few of my favorite shots. #bosarts #bostonburlesque
