Lucy Hicks Anderson is such a hero and icon for us. She never ceased her fight for womanhood and even when imprisoned in a male prison for her transition, survived to escape to a better life. What an incredible woman.
Lucy Hicks Anderson was born in 1886. Vocal about her gender from an early age, she left home in 1901 and transitioned at 15. In 1945, she was successfully prosecuted for "masquerading as a woman."
