The end of an era. Doing NaNo 20 years ago is how I met most of the friends I have today. It's too bad it turned into what it did the past couple years.
Less than a year after a full-throated embrace of AI, NaNoWriMo is shutting down :

I dropped $60 on the Pens-Wild game, $120 on the Avs-Wild game, and I'm considering spending $150 a Rangers ticket when I'm on my work trip.

Meanwhile I just got a Chicago NHL ticket for $33. What a joke of a team 🥴

Baristas frequently work shifts without enough labor to keep up with customers, & without consistent hours + scheduling, we often cannot afford rent or groceries.

We're calling on ALL Starbucks partners to sign our petition demanding Starbucks listen!

This is a good action item because it:
1. Seeks info
2. Keeps DOGE busy if it complies
3. Is a basis for legal action if it doesn’t

I've been reading Harlequins for 25 years - I'm a trope junkie. The problem with genre publishing right now (IMHO) is authors and publishers thinking trope is all they need - never mind the pesky details like character development, compelling conflict and an actual plot.
what if tropes, but too much?

(in my latest for @reactorsff.bsky.social, I wrote about how romantasy publishers are feeding me so many tropes I feel like Bruce Bogtrotter with the chocolate cake.)
