I write code and I really like potions.

Potion craftというゲームが好きすぎて
粘土でキノコや鉱石を作った
薬草をすりつぶしてポーション作る感触が最高で、雰囲気も大好きです!
久しぶりに粘土遊びしたけどやっぱり楽しい

If you’re looking to get started with #Potionomics and have trouble with the #potion brewing mechanic - or know anyone who does - lemme know with a like, comment, or share! If there’s enough interest, I could put an alpha release up on GitHub for PC download.

Sorry for the hiatus on #BoxerDev posting, gang. Life’s getting a bit more complicated and I’m having trouble making the time to keep working on the project.

Work *will* resume once I can catch a breather. I still have a game to finish, after all.

I'm chugging every potion in your laboratory. I'm thirsty and I'm tired of you owning so many potions.

BetterHelp is already a scummy company, but today I found out *exactly* how scummy.
My PF2 pod, Dice Will Roll, doesn't run Mental Health ads, specifically to avoid companies like BH. Well, today I found we had an ad from them running. How was it possible?
They put the ad. Under HEALTH. AND. BEAUTY.

You know what? I’m gonna try out chia pudding in the mornings. Potion of breakfast.

I’ve stumbled on a deck for #Potionomics haggling which is rather profitable… absurdly so, even.

I did manage to brew a Superior Dowsing Enhancer with all GOOD traits, so I feel justified in charging top dollar for my concoctions - they’re literally the best, and my #BoxerDev efforts ensure that.

I need to do something about the distinct lack of #potions in my daily routine. I should start making breakfast smoothies.

Full disclosure: my interest in potions does not stop with #Potionomics. I have schematics lying around for a survival-friendly redstone brewing machine in #Minecraft, and sometime after I’m through with #BoxerDev, I might just post the plans on here.

My aim is to become a premier #potion poster.

One of my ‘reach’ goals for Boxer is figuring out how the heck positive and negative traits for the same sense interact, and maybe get an idea of what exactly the extra star chances are for each stability level. Could lead to extra features for extreme powergamers.

It’s surprising how many ingredients in #Potionomics have internal IDs which don’t correspond one-to-one with their given names. The only way to be sure I have every ID accounted for is to grab as many as i can in-game and ask the player base for save files with the others. #BoxerDev

Okay, let's see what the to-do list for Boxer looks like now...

- Review heuristic/cut efficacy on CBC solver and trim the fat
- Port UI from Toga to Qt
- Redesign UI (?)
- Find out why some brewing scenarios take whole minutes to solve
- Anything else that comes up

Boxer now produces the cheapest recipe that produces the most potions, given
- cauldron
- potion type (Minor to Masterwork)
- minimum tier + stars required (0-5)
- minimum stability requirement
- inventory
- sensory constraints (any/no bad/only good per sense)

(1/2)

I hate, hate, *hate* using heuristic functions for optimization instead of exact functions... But calculating potion batch profit *exactly* would've been too computationally expensive, and anyway, this is getting pretty good results for now. Need more testing.

Finally ironed out that stability bug which confused stable/unstable potions.

On a related note, here are my experimentally derived error ranges for potion stability:

Perfect: 0%
Very Stable: 0% < err <= 10%
Stable: 10% < err <= 30%
Unstable: 30% < err <= 50%

Qt Community use is a go! That should allow me to massively upgrade the GUI in terms of interactivity and ease of use.

Thank for the lift, Toga for Python.

On a related note, I’m taking suggestions for what the user interface should look like. Reply or DM me with ideas!

I tried to implement Dark Mode last night, but ran into a roadblock (Toga doesn’t support Dark Mode at all). I know Toga’s a bit limited, but if I want to make Boxer the best I can make it, I need to switch to another framework.

On a completely different note, I wasn't expecting this project to pick up so much traction this early, let *alone* notice from the studio director for Voracious Games.

That's absolutely wild. I'm trying my best not to type in all caps from how excited I am.

Nothing fancy for today's update. I managed to migrate Boxer into a Beeware Briefcase. A relatively simple, if tedious, change, which will potentially allow me to provide releases not just for Windows, but for MacOS and Linux as well.

My #Potionomics calculator, Boxer, is steadily improving! It's a bit rough around the edges right now, but here's a lil' demo to show you what it's capable of.
