Sotomayor rightly says that the threat of statelessness "hangs like a guillotine over" the birthright citizenship litigation.

Given the decision in DHS v. DVD, it's hard not to imagine that stateless children are not at risk of deportation to unrelated third countries, with or without their parents

Final int’l enviro law class of the semester watching our Julian Aguon at The Hague. My students include an LLM student who is a part of Pacific Island Students Fighting Climate Change and a JD student who spent the summer working at Blue Ocean Law on the ICJAO. Deeply meaningful last class.

I could not keep up with the argument on the obligation of due diligence and precautionary principle. But it ended with the powerful analogy of obligations with respect to climate change to the statement by Rafael Lemkin that "murder is illegal, but genocide is not."
