Socialist to my very core and supporter of all activists fighting injustice. FREE PALESTINE 🇯🇴
My distress about what is happening in Palestine means I donate monthly to PSC, MAP, UNRWA and MSF. I’m sorry but I cannot contribute to GoFundMe requests.
Just watched @labourlewis.bsky.social's powerful speech on his Water Bill, raising the fundamental question that’s been ignored for too long: who should own our water?

It’s time to bring water back into public hands.

Labour are mugging pensioners again, this time after a conducting a cynical campaign of lies about how they would correct the injustice and give fair compensation to the WASPI women who had their pensions stolen.
Starmer's Labour: Stealing votes and shafting people
Labour's decision to mug WASPI pensioners is made all the worse by their pre-election promises that they were going to correct the injustice.

Social media and post-truth politics
Facebook's decision to quit fact-checking popular content on their site is yet another step towards post-truth politics, where blatant lies have the same currency as reliably-sourced information.

Political donations are institutionalized bribery.

Donors get access to policymakers, shape laws, tax privileges, lax regulations, govt contracts/subsidies, honours, power.

Banning political donations is a necessary step for free and fair elections and democracy

How our democracy has been hijacked by corporations and wealthy elites
The only effective remedy is to ban all private donations, or bribes, to political parties.

The world has already discovered more coal, oil and gas than it is safe to burn. This is our chance to tell our government to stop new drilling in the North Sea, end licensing for new exploration, and fund a just transition to clean energy. act.globaljustice.org.uk/node/4262?ut...
Tell the UK: No new oil and gas
The UK government has paused making decisions on new oil and gas in the North Sea while it examines how to regulate new drilling. And it’s asking the public for our views.

As we hear the stories of the brutal and inhuman repression of the Syrian people by the Assad regime, we remember again why Syrians have been amongst the largest group of people risking everything to cross the English Channel in those small boats.

It's hard to articulate what makes someone feel safe - because it IS a feeling NOT a place. But I can pretty much guarantee that the ability to communicate, work/ provide for yourself or be part of a community is a key part. It's not something we can put a price on nor should we decide for others.
A man describes in perfect English how he escaped torture by the Taliban.

He explains why he wants to come to the UK “because I speak English”. It’s quite simple.

He believes neither France nor Germany will help him. He knows the risk of death.
He needs a safe, regulated route. #r4today
