Probably millions of red-thighed St. Mark's flies were swarming over the Blencathra fells in the Lake District last Monday. Two ring ouzels seen on Sharp Edge.

Ignore my son's dog, and the mallards, there are now Mandarin ducks on my childhood haunt of Roundhay Park lake in Leeds. Rose-ringed parakeets have colonised too. Mindst you, it's a long time since I was a kid.

Foiled by the rain in Saltburn today. After being away, I'm trying to catch up with a patch greenish warbler. Heard it calling pre-dusk yesterday.

Nice to see a fall of migrant birds on the Saltburn cliffs this morning, inc whinchats, redstart, pied fly, wheatears & willow warblers.
