“Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time.” Anytime I have ever made a comment in the NYT that we are in the middle of a Second Civil War, they don't publish it. Finally some ink is being spilled on this brutal reality. It's well past time democrats meet fascism with the ruthlessness it deserves.

"He's in the process of establishing a dictatorship."
It's a simple 8-word sentence. News media could tell the public that. They know it's true. They report on the various steps toward autocracy every day. But they're afraid to utter that 8-word sentence. Which is more evidence of how true it is.

Federal agents used explosives to enter a U.S. citizen’s home and entered — guns drawn — on a baby, a 6-year-old, and their mother. She believes it’s because her boyfriend attended an ICE protest where he accidentally hit a cop car (and was released by cops).

My sadness and anger is compounded by the thought that we could have had a leader like Tim Walz who chose to also honor their dog Gilbert, who likely tried to protect the Hortmans. Instead we have an American Fascist as our VP and we see cruelty over compassion coming from this regime everyday.

The left has to use this decision, not just criticize it.

It'll be chaos, but that's what the Justices get.

Hate is certainly having a moment but so is Mallory McMorrow. Great speech from a few years ago. Regrettably we are still having this conversation but thankfully there are people like her.
Three years ago today, I stood on the Michigan Senate floor and said, “We will not let hate win.”

I’ve heard from some of you that it feels like hate did win.

Among those asked to self-deport were immigration attorneys who are also American citizens.
NEW: ICE is paying Palantir $30 million to make a tool called “ImmigrationOS” that would provide “near real-time” info on self-deportations and help ICE choose who to deport, with priority to “visa overstays.” A new document outlines these details:

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social is right. If the president can direct law enforcement to kidnap people, expel and imprison them without trial, then we are living in a fascist state. This is the moment we decide who we are. Nothing else matters. We cannot let this stand.
I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.
