I think it’s time for the Dems to have a shadow minister for every Cabinet portfolio to keep the public aware of all the disinformation going on with the administration

Eg. A shadow HHS member who has a presser after every RFK Jr edict to get up and say all that is wrong with the edict

And so on

CNN reporting that Senate Democrats are “disappointed” in House members for violating “decorum” at Trump’s speech last night.

Just utterly clueless. And worth remembering next time those senators wax reverently about John Lewis.

Yeah we all know this is illegal. Wake me up when a judge actually holds someone in contempt.

To our many American friends. The National Academies have assembled a package of resources for researchers facing threats or attacks in the US

Among the deletions from federal govt websites,

"It has also notably deleted information intended for improving accessibility for blind and visually impaired employees, which asked employees to use 'visual descriptions' when introducing themselves on Zoom meetings."
You can watch the Trump administration play DEI whac-a-mole with employee policies and public websites on GitHub, which is automatically cataloguing all of the changes the 18F agency is frantically making to its internal and external webpages:

Research supplements to support URM mentees are set to expire today. I met the person who developed this mechanism, Clifton Poodry, at an NSF meeting last fall; he is so inspiring. This supplement has funded thousands of mentees including myself. Devasted to see it canceled, and with no notice.

Anyway, I'm currently trying to find researchers impacted by the DEI executive order and NIH freeze, or anyone seeing other funding agencies headed in the same direction as the NIH.

DM, email (k_vasquez@acs.org) or Signal (kvasquez.12). Can keep you anonymous, if needed.

Two things can be true
1. NIH and NSF could be run way better - the way we organize & fund science is hardly optimal
2. What we're seeing is NOT likely to lead to some sort of science reform but cronyism and culture war nonsense that undermines the valuable work NIH & NSF support

Don't confuse them

Please tell your representative:

1) I'm not just a teacher in your district, I'm essentially an entrepreneur running a small business.
2) I employ XX people at good wages, ranging from $Y-Z.
3) Blocking the operation of the NIH prevents this and damages our local economy

No study section...no grant reviews
No grant reviews...no grants awarded
No grants awarded...no research
No research...no functional NIH
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
