Late diagnosed AuDHD with multiple chronic illnesses. I will likely say something that's not quite right, so please be patient with me. My brain goes faster than my mouth does, and I don't get all the words right every time.

Don't ask for my real name.

Trump entered the Mar-a-Lago ballroom for his Thanksgiving feast to the song “We Are the World,” a song used to raise money to help starving children.

Trump himself has cut aid to address global famine and has fought for the right to cut food stamps from American families.

Arts and humanities play a major role in our day to day lives, but we often ignore just how important they are.

Try going a day with no art, no literature, no music, no history, no social or cultural understanding . . . We use these fields every moment of the day.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

I want us to begin to reclaim what is truly a legacy of movement toward progressive policies across history.

Don't let people rewrite history.

Interestingly enough, Marjorie Green is resigning just after she receives her lifetime benefits.

I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire

So much of what we’re witnessing right now, defensiveness, fragility, denial, over-intellectualizing, “not all white men,” isn’t personal.

It’s patterned.

Predictable.

Trained.

Context always matters. If BlueSky wants to make the argument that acknowledging context in this case is a "slippery slope" then the appropriate response would have been to delete the post, not the account.
Bluesky says it suspended author Sarah Kendzior because she was "expressing a desire to shoot the author of an article."

But there's more to the story:

I've got a messy relationship with certain anti-inflammatory pain meds as I was on a high dose at one point for pain from a benign growth and I believe it damaged my already damaged stomach even further.

It's STILL a safe, effective, pain med. It was just not right for me.

JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

One of the things that sucks about the way that academia consumes social movements and steals their innovations is that by the time you're learning the history of a movement you're learning it from people who've already written the real militants out of history

If you're reaction to hearing about SNAP benefits getting cut is to start telling people how easy it is to make low-cost meals from scratch, you need to stop and ask yourself one question:

Did anyone ask for easy, low-cost, recipes?

If the answer is no then your input isn't welcome.

This is a world view that I have seen in so many. There is a serious lack of understanding in just how much we need each other as a community to survive and thrive. WP genuinely believe that they do everything on their own.

Mamdani understands interconnectedness.
WP just raging about Mamdani being a class traitor to the moneyed class. Implicit in their statement is that it's good and normal for anyone born into wealth (even relatively modest wealth, not just billionaires) to adopt a worldview of "fuck you got mine" and resist improving the lives of the poor.
