Each and every one of you should know that with a @pbs.org passport, which you can get through a $5 monthly donation to a local station (for us it’s Nashville PBS), you can literally watch hours and hours of Julia Child cooking AND a live Ella Fitzgerald concert from 1969 AND This Old House. Do it!

This is possibly the only photo of me from today’s rally but - I’m just here to thank Johnny Garrett for finally taking the time to listen to his constituents. 🤷‍♀️

It’s 64 degrees out today so if you feel sad, go outside and get a little sun.

I’ve been noodling on the idea of subtle resistance and what it looks like. Here’s my top five favorite ways to resist with *subtlety* (don’t worry, I resist without subtlety too). 🧵

We’ll persevere and keep going because we have to, but GOD I am tired and it’s just Day 1.

Today I’m crawling through form emails to find the emails I actually need to read and I AM ANNOYED.

This is the kind of thought I wish our legislators would have.
At this point, I need to actively choose to be less powerful both because I hate it and also because it does appear to corrupt.

Hard though!!

Today, I watched my friend Shaundelle as she was sworn in to the TN General Assembly. Congratulations, REPRESENTATIVE Brooks - this is what you were made for. 🫶🏻 #fightlikeamom

The audacity of 🌾 men to apply for jobs they have zero qualifications for never fails to astound me.

Happy Thanksgiving! May we be thankful for our allies and continue to work to make our state and country a better place instead of memorializing a meal between colonizers and colonized. 🫶🏻

Let us remember today that commenting on someone else’s body is never warranted - especially commenting on a woman’s body.

Let’s go into the next week thinking about how we can take care of each other. Who wants to run for office? 🤸🏻

This is a good thread - and he’s right. I’m really proud of the work I and many of my fellow exec committee members do, and I also STRONGLY believe that we have a lot of learning and growing to do if we want to get things accomplished.
It is crucial in my opinion that the state executive committee members be regularly reminded that Tennessee Democrats need them running at peak efficiency. We need to hold them accountable when they don't.

Here’s my final magic moment. I didn’t realize how badly I needed to just… get out of Tennessee for a day or two until I got here and felt like I could breathe again. I am proud of the work I do, but it takes it out of you - and now I’m ready to get back to work. Thankful.

Okay, the other magical thing about NYC is that when you Uber to a restaurant and it’s unexpectedly closed, you can walk a block and accidentally end up eating the best LIMONCELLO AND BURRATA RAVIOLI you’ve ever even considered in your life. What utter bliss.
