If Found, Return to Hell by @emdashliu.bsky.social - A bored and jaded wizard intern overcommits to a client and ends up hosting a demon prince from hell. This was a wonderfully entertaining fantasy novella. Also, massive kudos for pulling off second person with aplomb.

Nophek Gloss by @essahansen.bsky.social - A dark, ambitious sci-fi epic about a boy who witnesses the brutal deaths of his family and embarks on a quest for vengeance across universes. Not always an easy read, but definitely worth the journey and chock full of fascinating ideas.

Catching up on 2024 short fic and had to start with @angelaliu.bsky.social in Uncanny. Another Girl Under the Iron Bell is a darkly romantic novelette about a demon forced to be an assassin. Lovely, sharp, atmospheric prose as always from Angela.

Foul Days by @gen-dimova.bsky.social - Inspired by Balkan folklore, this book follows a witch and a detective as they hunt for a stolen shadow in a monster-ridden city. This was so effortlessly readable and unexpectedly funny. I particularly enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters.

Nebula-winning novella 'Linghun' by @aijiang.bsky.social - Super late to the party reading this but I have finished it and I now can say it deserves the hype. What a wonderful, lyrical contemplation of different kinds of love and grief.

The Book of Doors by @garethjohnbrown.bsky.social .social - I was expecting a fun, whimsical, feel-good fantasy about wanderlust and magic books. But this story did not shy away from going to some dark, gory, trippy and weird places. An arresting and gripping read.

Sistersong by @silvanhistorian.bsky.social - A wonderful historical fantasy set during the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain. Timeless storytelling that reminds me a bit of Juliet Marillier's prose. Will definitely be checking out her new book Song of the Huntress

Currently reading The Saint of Bright Doors by @vajra.me (Hugo, Nebula and Locus award nominee this year). What a fresh and unique fantasy book. Strange, tangled and colorful worldbuilding. Also, the cover art is absolutely beautiful.
