Zohran Mamdani walked into the Oval Office with strength, without betraying his own values or beliefs, and had trump eating out of his hand, defending and praising him, even saying it's OK to call him a fascist.

Gave up nothing.
Gained respect.

Absolute masterclass.

Ubisoft boss can do one.
Ubisoft boss believes generative AI is as big a revolution for games as the shift to 3D, as tech is embraced company-wide

What do you mean Benny Safdie AKA the director of The Smashing Machine, Uncut Gems and Good Time is the voice of Bowser Jr?? And Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson is voicing Rosalina?? Wild times.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Utterly abysmal.
Coca-Cola's annual Christmas commercial is AI-generated again

The company used even fewer people to make it this year

“FUCK AI” is turning into a movement.

After his Frankenstein Q&A at the Chinese Theater, Guillermo del Toro asked the audience to scream “FUCK AI.”

Are you kidding me, LOOK AT HIM! He’s adorable. That’s the real Paddington Bear right there.
First look at Paddington in the ‘PADDINGTON: THE MUSICAL’ stage play.

The puppet is played by 2 performers: James Hameed, the off-stage remote puppeteer, and Arti Shah, the on-stage performer.

I saw way too many movies in October, so here are some smaller reviews (lovingly collated together) of six movies that stood out to me! Enjoy the first "Reel Round-Up"!
Reel Round-Up #1
Hello there, dear reader! Welcome to the first ever "Reel Round-Up": my compromise for when I've seen too many movies and not had enough time to review them all individually! October 2025 was jam-packed, and I even got to see some movies early via some London Film Festival screenings (not in London though - I try to avoid that city when I can).

Newcastle says no to fascism.

The far right brought a hundred or so with them, bussed from far and wide. This city turned out 1000s, from local communities, estates and streets. Geordies of all backgrounds coming together and outnumbering the purveyors of hate by some distance.
