Tricky morning. Between eclipses. I found myself in a crevice and lost my bearings in BluSky shrill.

Thanks to absurdist humor, music lyrics, and some verifiable facts, I resurfaced. I stand by new constitution and...BlueSky time out for me. Love Ya'll. All ya'll.

I was in Olympia today to sound the alarm on Republicans' all-out assault on Medicaid that will cut Americans off of their health care, force rural hospitals to close their doors, & blow a massive hole in WA states' budget—all to line the pockets of their billionaire buddies.

AGREED. In March, an extreme might be...um....ok, I don't know. I'll settle for breaking news: Trump complies with a court order or Schumer resigns.
Narrator: It was not an extreme position.
I know this is probably an extreme position, but we are in an extreme moment: Chuck Schumer should resign, and we should develop a pressure campaign to make him miserable until he does. (Simultaneously, we should pressure Hochul to appoint AOC to replace him, if we can break his spirit.)

The constitutional crisis even Kash Patel knew was coming...is here.
Morning Edition FAILED to meet the moment with their enemic 4 minutes.
KNKX lets me earmark my public radio donation for "jazz programming only." No reason lousy Morning Edition shouldn't go down in flames with our constitution.

No, Chuck. You lost the plot faster than Donald.
This is Chuck.

Chuck is selling a book.

Chuck also has a full-time job.

I would consider buying Chuck’s book if he were doing that job, but he’s not.

Don’t be like Chuck.

And don’t buy Chuck’s book.
It gets worse. Schumer isn’t just going on a book tour—he’s charging for tickets.

Absolute insanity. While Americans are scared and in crisis mode, he’s basically saying, let them eat cake.

@schumer.senate.gov Step Down.
March 16, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Ok. This is a change I support! Dump Schumer. Let him stay on book tour into perpetuity.
Whoa! Rep. James Clyburn acknowledges that Leader Hakeem Jeffries was “blindsided” by Chuck Schumer’s vote and also says that House Democrats are on retreat, talking about a primary challenge. 🔥

@schumer.senate.gov isn’t up for reelection until 2028. Chuck needs to step down from leadership now.

Seems an important enough development to share in my good morning spot. Know naturalized citizens? Are they from one of the 43 countries Trump listed for his travel ban? Situational awareness, this.
They started with the undocumented, then they went after visa holders and permanent residents, now it's naturalized citizens.

How many times must history rhyme and repeat before we realize what's going on?

DEFAULT ON YOUR STUDENT LOAN. STOP PAYING NOW.
On Tuesday night, co-presidents Trump and Musk fired half of the workers at the Education Department.

On Wednesday, FAFSA - the financial aid application for millions of kids who want to go to college - went down.

That’s their idea of efficiency.
How Education Department layoffs hit student loans, testing, civil rights
The layoffs call into question how agency will be able to handle major operations such as student loans, FAFSA, the Nation’s Report Card and civil rights complaints.

I’m amazed how little coverage this story has gotten. They’ve burned well over $16 million to briefly hold 290 immigrants and several photo ops to GITMO. Just a total train wreck and they didn’t even mention it officially. Check out my latest.

Instead of simply denying people entry, they are kidnapping and torturing them.

Sanity speaks...
This is what is called a "speaking complaint." There's more here than a well-pleaded habeas case. Of note, a judge in a habeas case can't order the admin to do more than release the petitioner (though he can order less). But with so many eyes on it, this is an opportunity to raise political support.
Lots of new details in Mahmoud Khalil's amended complaint against the Trump admin. His lawyers are asking for more than just his release; they want the judge to order the Trump admin to stop its plan to arrest/deport protesters.
