I think we need to stop calling it empathy and go back to calling it decency. It isn't a favour you're doing someone else, it's you proving that you aren't a fucking ghoul

The difference, of course, is that violence (and depictions/expressions of it) is something the general fascist project needs to control for its own means, whereas GenAI's extremities support the general fascist project just fine on their own.
I seem to remember whole congressional hearings about the terrible destructive force that is violence in video games and yet, there is a very strange quiet about an unregulated technology that coaches people to suicide.
There are no words for how evil this is

Imagine wanting to be part of any party (political, social or otherwise) in which you need to explicitly announce you’re in the “Hitler sucks” contingent.
Cool. What would you call the other wing then? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/03/u...

Who is going to be the first opposition MP to refer to #Budget2025 as "Champagne Problems"?

Seeing the setlist for Radiohead's first show of their short European tour is making me even more regretful I didn't get my butt organized to try and get tickets to Radiohead's European tour.

For those of you (like me) who'd see this headline and instantly realize what a wonderful match this is.

Bernie’s democratic socialism is still compatible with liberal democracy. Trump’s national socialism is not. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

"[I've] spent many days, months, and years watching Blue Jays teams that were sometimes good, sometimes successful, and sometimes fun. Much of the time, they were none of these. But in no other year have they been all three, at the same time, quite like they were in 2025."
Wrote it all out.

This one's for them — Vlad, Bo, Ernie, George, Trey and the rest — but mostly for me.

Got these photos taken on opening day, when the photo studio at work was amazingly colour aligned for the occasion. Never in a million years thought that, seven months later, the team would be a win away from a World Series title.

I still like the Jays’ chances of winning in seven, but how about just winning tonight instead?
