Prepping the "Wet & Wrinkled" theme issue of our dorm newsletter, 1999. We passed all the pages under a faucet & dried them in dryers before stapling. Some articles engaged with the concept, others did not attempt to 💦

Iconic lettering work by Ray Cruz, who died last week.

All four examples are reproduced from a feature on Cruz in the Jan 1982 issue of the magazine “typographic i.”

(Credit to @stewf.com of @letterformarchive.org for the 2021 magazine photos he shared online that I’ve pulled these from.)

The security guard in charge of Nancy Holt’s HEATING SYSTEM (1984–85) kindly took my picture. “You can go ahead and touch the pipes,” he said. “They’re very hot when we first get here in the morning. Everything’s interactive but don’t touch the pictures on the wall. I know it’s strange.”

I remember being 10 and thinking this was boring and weird and disliking Warren Beatty. I felt like someone who was being told that Warren Beatty is cool even though I knew for sure that he was not.
