Okay, this is my *official* BlueSky introduction 🧵: Hi, I'm Michael and I work on multimodal transportation (👨🏾‍🦽🚶🏾‍♂️🚴🏾‍♂️🚌) in the bi-state Kansas City region. In this thread, I'll answer 3 questions:

1) What do I tend to post about?
2) Why BlueSky?
3) Where do things on this account go from here?

Great quotation from our chair @tah.bsky.social and other transit leaders in this article from The Beacon about transit challenges ahead of the World Cup in Kansas City next year.

Bottom line: we don't fund transit enough. The region needs a better funding model:

As World Cup demands loom, transit leaders face hard decisions to pay for extra bus service
Kansas City has been asking the state and federal government for financial help to pay for extra buses during the World Cup. The clock is ticking, and the transit agency hasn’t gotten a dime.

An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

Black thinkers & activists have been saying the same thing for more than 150 yrs: the rights, laws, & programs passed by Congress are meaningless if white Americans remain unwilling to enforce them.
After the police chief in Columbia, SC murdered a Black resident in cold blood, an anonymous Black woman wrote to the govt in May 1866: "Our friends in Congress are wasting time & breath, & all the bills they may pass, will do us no good, unless men are sent here that will see these laws enforced."

The palliative care industry is COOKED. My hair dresser said one of her clients is the manager for a clinic that staffs nothing but Latino people and Black people. She said they are being given NO headsup when people dont come in (cause ICE has them) and she doesn’t know how to staff enough anymore
They also seem okay with deporting people who often work as caretakers and 14 year olds working more

When I first started seeing #OzempicBabies trending on social media, I’ll admit I was confused. Were these people proudly proclaiming they were on these medications? Like a celebratory “Yeah, baby, I’m on Ozempic!”?

No. It turns out it referred to something entirely different… and far more complex.
