Real estate developers and energy companies are good!
The issue is that we shouldn’t sell Federally owned wilderness to *anyone*, not that people want to build housing and power infrastructure.

Not to be argumentative, but why? I’m having trouble coming up with downsides that aren’t covered by GINA.

A lot of folks in these replies would have an actual breakdown watching Canadian Bacon.

Net profit doesn’t include share buybacks because they’re not an expense (other than, since the IRA, they increase the company’s tax liability).

Executive comp was like $45M in that fiscal year when they lost half a billion.

Gross profit is not net profit. Last quarter was their first profitable quarter ever. They lost about $550M the last full year they reported and they have like a 5% profit margin.

Sure, especially because it’s concentrated around peak times. I also think the idea is to fund the MTA more with the money, and the combination of stick (congestion tax) and carrot (better funded subway) will reduce the demand for cars more than either on their own.

No, just emphasizing that distinction you noted between the man and his employer. Whatever legitimate grievances people have with UHC or healthcare generally, I don’t think they warrant celebrating the death of someone apparently trying to improve it. I’m sorry for your loss.

I think it’s heartless to let distaste for private health insurance make you feel unsympathetic to a guy getting murdered. He used to run their Medicare and retirement divisions and recently pivoted towards preventative care. It seemed like he was a perfectly OK guy, just in the healthcare business.
