"...the full #November twilight had fallen around Green Gables, & the only light in the kitchen came from the dancing red flames in the stove. Anne was...gazing into that joyous glow where the sunshine of a 100 summers was being distilled from the maple cordwood."

..autumn drifted by, maple fires were kindled around the Secret Field, bracken & lady fern turned brown, golden harvest moons looked down. A gracious September & a mellow October were succeeded by a soft & sad November, long silken lines of rain slanted across the sere hillsides.

#November, with uncanny witchery in its changed trees. With murky red sunsets flaming in smoky crimson behind the westering hills… the austere woods were beautiful and gracious in a dignified serenity of folded hands and closed eyes…

“the long fields, sloping down from the homestead, were brown & mellow. A weird, dreamy stillness had fallen upon the purple earth, the sere meadows. Nature seemed to have folded satisfied hands to rest. Out to sea…the ceaseless voice of many waters came up from the tawny shore.”

It was November—the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines. Anne roamed through the pineland alleys and…let that great sweeping wind blow the fogs out of her soul.

…there is always a #November space after the leaves have fallen when she felt it was almost indecent to intrude on the woods…for their glory terrestrial had departed & their glory celestial of spirit & purity & whiteness had not yet come upon them.

It had been a day of wild #November #wind 🇨🇦…But little we cared for the gloom and the loneliness of the outside world; we kept them at bay with the light of the fire and the laughter of our young lips.

October that year gathered up all the spilled sunshine of the summer and clad herself in it as in a garment…There was not one day that did not come in with auroral splendour and go out attended by a fair galaxy of evening stars…
