Introverted PR pro & PRSA member. Mom of two adult boys - and an amazing daughter (in-law). Kansas City, MO native. History nerd. Avid reader. Always learning. Drake University (B.A., History) and Pittsburg State University (M.A., History) alum.
Today, the KC Chamber hosted the KC Current Kickoff Luncheon, and not even the weather could ice out this celebration of women’s sports and Kansas City’s undeniable momentum.

The Current’s season is about to kick off, and if today was any indication, Teal is rising stronger than ever!

Enjoying a hot coffee on a cold morning as the Kansas City Public Safety Coalition gathers for its first meeting of 2025! The group is doing good work to promote safety for all Kansas Citians.

If you are looking for something to read today that will educate, inform and distract, might I suggest Frederick Douglass’ autobiography?

Today, of all days, I am letting Dr. King’s words remind me to love - to seek light in the darkness and not despair.

My historian heart soared yesterday as an attendee at the Metropolitan Community College Chancellor’s MLK Jr. Scholarship Luncheon.

The keynote was Dr. Henry Louis Gates and his address was phenomenal - brought my book along “just in case”.

The event was a moving tribute to Dr. King’s legacy!

Spending a cold January day in Kansas City daydreaming and looking back on #MyPhotos from my trip to Italy in 2022. 🇮🇹

I don’t just love books but travel as well! Reflecting back to June and our epic trip to Ireland. These are just a few of the photos I captured. Enjoy!!

Blizzard at my house! And it continues to snow heavier with strong wind gusts. The drifts make it hard to measure, but it’s the most I’ve seen in a long time here in Kansas City. Grateful to be able to stay home!

On the left, the book I’m reading with a reference to the Mithraic temple beneath the Basilica of San Clemente in Rome. On the right, the photo I took of said temple!

I’m such a nerd! Totally geeking out about a book reference that I have personally seen and experienced IRL.

Stay weather aware around the KC metro area! Keep your phones charged in case of power outages - and stay home when possible once inclement weather begins.

It’s getting real in Kansas City ahead of this winter storm!

Stay safe out there - and thank you to all the dedicated folks who will work through hazardous conditions to keep our city up and running. Make there jobs a bit nicer with kindness and common sense (stay home & out of danger).

My chosen “one word” is PURPOSEFUL; however, I’ll gladly accept this word as well.

Bring on a euphoric 2025!

The epitome of servant leadership. A man of character who I’ve always admired.

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. 1/20 #BookSky

For me, one of the best Christmas gifts is the annual book box. The holidays aren’t complete until I add to my personal library! #BookSky

Getting “Christmas Vacation” and Cousin Eddie vibes from my parent’s cat who I keep having to haul out of the comfy chair! Dude is literally “sitting” and appears to be demanding an adult beverage.

Tonight, the Drake Men’s Basketball team is in action at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City! I won't be able to attend, but as a loyal Drake University alum, I'm showing my spirit around town and rooting for the Bulldogs.

Co-sign! My 23-year-old son is “straight edge” and does not drink; however, he is consistently asked to imbibe. He spends a lot of time explaining his choice.
A holiday that's boozy for many people is a good time for this reminder . . .

Do not ever — not one time, not for any reason — pressure someone to have a drink of alcohol that they don't want.

Not ever, not one sip, not under any circumstances.
