There are some dubs that I can enjoy. I adore YYH’s; it’s over the top in all the right places/ways for me. Justin Cook is fantastic.

I dunno man, I just like to be immersed. It’s like reading a book written in a well-done narrative voice vs one that’s an annoying caricature. Good brain itch vs bad

And yeah there’s anime where even the Japanese version feels like that.

I cringe at them too and usually stop watching.

Not to disrespect all the hard work that goes into voice acting. I could never be a VA.

I think I just have a low threshold for cringe? My brain is wired to pick up on subtlety

(Except. I have a conlang for that manuscript too. Because if the listener has no referent for what a word could possibly mean they just hear it as is 🫠)

I started this project with “what are the most terrifying things that could exist in a sentient forest”

So like. I should have known things would click into place if I followed that up with “how can this place be MC’s personal hell”

A step up from the standard “biggest fear” question I went with 😆
